The stages of plastering typically include the following:

4. Applying the finish coat: Once the base coat has dried, the finish coat of plaster can be applied. This should be applied in the same manner as the base coat, with a trowel and a sweeping motion. The finish coat should be smoothed with a plasterer's float to create a smooth and even finish.

5. Finishing: After the plaster has been applied, it should be left to dry completely. Any rough spots or imperfections can be smoothed out with sandpaper or a plasterer's float. Once the plaster has fully dried, it can be painted with any type of paint suitable for the surface.

Lime plaster is made of hydrated lime, sand, and water and is a traditional plastering material that has been used for centuries. It is more breathable and flexible than gypsum plaster and is often used for historic preservation projects. Gypsum plaster, on the other hand, is a modern material made of gypsum, sand, and water. It is more rigid and durable than lime plaster and is commonly used for interior plastering.
